I often get road service calls from Fleets who pay with EFS or Comcheck. We’ve instituted a $200 gone on arrival deposit that rolls into the final balance for the repair. Most of the time that I get push-back on the gone on arrival deposit, it’s because Fleet companies have a hard time splitting the EFS payment into two payments (deposit and balance). Is this normal? I typically just allow these companies to decline our service because I think they’re gonna be a pain anyway. I refuse to dispatch a technician without the gone on arrival deposit of $200, unless it’s a company we already work with. Then I don’t ask for it. Anyone have thoughts on what is standard for our industry? What do you do?

We serviced some large fleets that have locations here in our city, but we don’t have contract with any of them, I’ve always believed that we should be attracting customers because they couldn’t imagine taking their business anywhere else and getting more crummy service. But now I’m starting to wonder if I’m looking at it one-sided. Appreciate anyone’s thoughts.

My name is Joel Barr and I live in Kansas City, Missouri (or...Mizzourah, if you're an MU graduate...Mizzery if you're from Iowa, Kansas, or anywhere in the SEC)

I'm fresh from Diesel Connect (hello everyone I met!) and am happy to listen to whatever you have to tell me about the user experience of what's happening within Fullbay that is impacting you or your teams. With me, you have a direct line into things like designing what's coming next, as well as an influence on what Fullbay produces. My main objective is to understand your shop, your people, your situation, and how the tool makes your workload more or less manageable, more or less fraught with friction or bottlenecks. I mostly hang in the background observing, but if you want or need to reach out to me directly, feel free!

With me, there are no right or wrong answers, nor am I attached to any outcome, other than that I hope that when you speak to me, you feel like you've been heard, understood, and your points validated.

Thanks for reading and have the very best day!

(...and if you're from Texas, Tennessee, or North Carolina - our BBQ is light years better than yours. 😅)
